A student of the martial and healing arts of Asia for more than three decades, Joey DeStefano has received formal training in holistic health, massage therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Asian bodywork therapy at prestigious institutions both here in the United States and abroad. A former professional opera singer, Joey also has an interest in sound and breath work as it applies to healing the body, and has a personal interest in Acutonics, Medical Qi Gong, and other forms of focused breathing meditation.

With more than 1,200 hours of training in therapeutic massage and bodywork, with more than 600 hours specializing in Tui Na Manual Therapy alone, he is an American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) Certified Tui Na Practitioner. In addition to Tui Na, Joey has studied Zen Shiatsu, Jin Shin Acupressure, Sports Massage, Myofacial Release, Circulatory/Swedish Massage and Deep Tissue work. He is a California Certified Massage Therapist (CMT No. 12010); a Licensed Holistic Health Practitioner in San Diego, CA; and is National Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB).

Joey graduated, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Health Science in Asian Holistic Health from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2009, earning specialty certificates in Tui Na and Asian Bodywork Therapy. In 2008, he completed a formal externship at the Tui Na Center of Yue Yang Hospital of East-West Integrative Medicine in Shanghai, PRC. While in China, he had the privilege to study with, and observe, noted Tuina experts Dr. Zhou Xin-wen, Dr. Yan Jun-tao, and Dr. Shi You-kang. In addition, he earned a Certificate of Study in Tui Na Therapy from the prestigious International Education College of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

He is an active member of the American Massage Therapy Association, the California State Oriental Medical Association, the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia, and the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. At present, he is completing a Master of Traditional Oriental Medicine at Emperor's College with the goal of adding Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine to the healing modalities offered to his clients.
