According to the International Massage Association (IMA), 70 to
80% of Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) leave the field of massage after one year of being licensed. Why is this happening? Two reasons: One is too little income for too much work. The second is too much pain from doing too much work.

If you are a recently graduated LMT, know that in the profession of massage you are wasting your time and energy if you are not able to make a decent living compared to what other professionals are achieving, while working a part time weekly work schedule. By this I mean an average of 10 to 18 hours a week as opposed to 30 to 40 hours a week. In other words, your time should be worth sufficient monetary compensation plain and simple. If it isn’t, then you will be destined to a quick and perhaps painful exit in this field.

My name is Bruce Berger and I operate Born To Massage Associates. I have been licensed for nearly fourteen years. I am looking for responsible, reliable, licensed massage professionals who can work with me on call, doing couples massages either in our Greenport Wellness Center or on an outcall basis, as well as solo outcall massages. I do all the booking and supply everything except for the massage oil when you work in our Center with me doing couples or solo massages. The one hour rate that I pay the therapists that co-couple with me at my office is $80 per hour & $110 per hour and a half (90 minutes). When a therapist co-couples with me on an outcall basis usually on the North of South Forks of Long Island the rate that is received is $100 per hour not counting gratuities. For a couples outcall the therapist does need to bring their own table, sheet, towel, oils, etc. For solo outcall massages that I set up for other therapists the one hour rate is also $100 per hour not counting gratuities with the same terms and conditions as for couples outcall massages. The outcall massages are for the areas of Long Island and New York City.

I believe in paying a decent rate, because a reliable, responsible massage professional up to now has been undervalued, but most importantly is worth it based on their knowledge and labor I am a massage therapist who has experienced working for others and understands the pitfalls in most cases of doing so.

I also offer any massage therapist who wishes to start their own practice in our Greenport center the opportunity to begin without a monthly rental arrangement. This would be done on a per massage basis where the therapist would be able to keep nearly 75 percent of the massage fee. In this case you would be responsible to make your own appointment schedule. Greenport and the North Fork are a great place to have a massage practice with an ever-growing affluent community base.

However, whatever you choose to do I wish you all the best, but please know your value, because if you don’t you will definitely be taken advantage of and that precedent in the long run will hurt us all in the massage profession. The choice is yours

1-a / COUPLES MASSAGES AT Home Office: 60 Minutes: $80.00
With one Co-Therapist. 90 Minutes: $110.00

Therapist only needs to bring own massage oil / lotion.
Massage Table Supplied with music.

1-b/ With two Separate Co-Therapists: 60 Minutes: $70.00 90 Minutes: $90.00

Therapist brings own massage oil / lotion.
May be asked to bring own sheet & towel.
Massage Table Supplied with music.
Customary Gratuities are mentioned to client at time of scheduling with a credit card via our Website.

2/ SOLO MASSAGES AT Home Office: 60 Minutes Swedish: $60.00
90 Minutes Swedish: $80.00
60 Minutes Specialty: $70.00
90 Minutes Specialty: $90.00

Therapist brings own sheet & towel, oil / lotion.
Massage Table supplied with music.
Customary Gratuities are mentioned to client at time of scheduling with a credit card via our Website.

3/ Senior Citizen Discount Program at Home Office: 60 Minutes: $50.00
Therapist brings own sheet & towel.
Scheduled usually from Monday afternoon to Thursday afternoon.
Customary Gratuities are mentioned to client at time of scheduling with a credit card via our Website.

Therapist brings own sheet, towel, cradle cover, oil / lotion.
Massage Table supplied with music.

For all massages at our Center the therapist is paid immediately after the completion of the assigned massage session.

4/ Outcall Couples massages: 60 Minutes: $100.00
90 Minutes: $150.00

5/ Outcall Solo Massages: 60 Minutes: $100.00
90 Minutes: $150.00

Please note: These rates do not include gratuities which is the customer’s choice, though it is mentioned by our personnel to the client(s) when scheduling
body - therapy treatments that a gratuity is customary which is usually complied with by the customer.

Also, all treatments which are solo massages, couples massages, and outcall massages must be booked with a credit card through our website where our cancellation policy is clearly described to the client. We do this to avoid last minute cancellations.
